Homebuilders is a not-for-profit Non Government Organisation (NGO) providing short term respite care for children and young people aged 0-17 years across the West Coast. We are always looking for caring, responsible adults to provide this service. Children are placed in short term care with a plan and support provided. Thorough character, police and Oranga Tamariki checks and completed and full training and support is provided.
Becoming a respite care provider involves caring for someone else’s child in your own home. If you’re enthusiastic about making a difference to the lives of children and young people living in care, you could make an excellent caregiver.
There are many reasons why children and young people come into care. Respite care offers them a safe and stable family home for immediately or short term.
Becoming a caregiver is a big decision and you’ve probably got lots of questions to ask before you decide whether it’s right for you. We’ve got the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about caregiving.
Our caregivers do an incredible job and we value their hard work. All our carers benefit from a daily board payment, comprehensive support and training that we offer.
Please contact our Homebuilders office for more information or to become a caregiver.
