Homebuilders West Coast Trust
Te Whanau Kahu O Te Tai Poutini
Hello, My name is Bev Poynter and I hold the position of secretary for Homebuilders West Coast Trust. I am married with three adult children and six grandchildren. After I retired from nursing/hospital management at Buller Hospital, I joined Homebuilders “to give something back to the community” as I had spare time on my hands. I fully support and am proud of the services offered by Lorraine and the team at Homebuilders. I mentor a young person through Homebuilders Big Brothers Big Sisters programme.
I am also involved in Buller Country Music Club, Home Hospice and Buller Adult Learning Services.
Hello, My name is Eyvonne Diskin. I have enjoyed being part of the Homebuilders team as a board member for the last seven years. I have lived in the area all my life and was born at Waimangaroa. I completed my enrolled nursing at Buller Hospital. I have three married sons who have produced nine grandchildren for me to spend much of my spare time with. I operate my own retail business and spend much of my leisure time tending to my gardens & 700 hazelnut trees. I have a great interest in outdoor pursuits which includes netball, tramping & running. I also endeavour to follow my children’s sports and spend the left over time with my husband Ross.
I am married to Barry and have two adult daughters. In my day job I am a Personal Banker at ANZ Bank where I have been employed for the past 25 years. I have been associated with Homebuilders since its inception as a Trust in 2003, initially as secretary of the steering group that established the Trust, then as secretary of the Trust for four years and a board member for the past three years.
I am a community focused person with strong ethical values and a desire to utilize my skills by working as a volunteer for a number of local organisations that provide support for people in need. Groups I am associated with besides Homebuilders include Buller Victim Support and Buller Budget Advisory Service. I am also a member of the Westport Performing Arts Competitions Society and a registered Marriage and Civil Union Celebrant. In my spare time I enjoy the performing arts, sewing and spending time with my family and friends.
Westport has always been my home and I love living here with my husband Bruce and our dog Walter. After attending Buller High School I spent five years at the University of Canterbury studying law, political science and mass communications. That was long enough away from home and I was lucky enough to get a job with the Buller District Council once I finished university, first as community services officer, then as policy planner and now as team leader planning and policy. My first involvement with Homebuilders was during my fourth form year when a group from our business studies class worked on a project to provide outdoor play equipment at the former Homebuilders site on Derby Street. I was impressed by the range of services Homebuilders provided in our community and could see real value in what the organization does. I’m pleased to be part of the Homebuilders Board to provide support to staff for all of the great work they do. I am a community focused person with strong ethical values and a desire to utilize my skills by working as a volunteer for a number of local organisations that provide support for people in need.
